You didn't ask about this - but your commute will be vastly enhanced if you download the OneBusAway and MARTA On the Go apps. Welcome! I much prefer the bus to the train. Totally new to this and I would love some sincerely meant guidance as this is a sincerely meant question. This isn't required (and some drivers will stress that it isn't necessary), but I've found it helpful. Should I wave at the bus to ask it to stop at my bus stop? If you can't get the door open, shout "rear door" so the driver won't proceed without letting you out. If you exit through the rear door, you just have to touch the yellow strip to make the door open. You can confirm whether someone has already requested a stop, as the matrix board above the bus entry will say "Stop Requested".

If you haven't done this in a while, note that you'll only hear the "ding" once per stop (so don't worry if you pull it and don't hear anything). The buses will stop automatically at train stations - but for all other stops you need to pull the cord or push the stop button by the rear door. If possible, top up at a MARTA station (which updates the balance instantly) or online (which may take a day or so to be recognized on all buses).ĭo I just pull a string/press a button to signal the bus to stop (a la my old school bus days)?Įxactly. This is best avoided, though, as it's time-consuming and irritating.
